Four curved corners with no extra markup or javascript

1st January 2007

ALL FOUR CURVED CORNERS

Ok, finally a four corner box with no extra markup.

No javascript and absolutely no hacks.

This is the place to put your descriptive text. All four curved corners requiring no extra markup, just a standard definition list with four background images.

Information

A follow on from my previous page, this definition list has four curved corners with no extra markup or javascript and is completely resizeable/fluid.

This is acheived using a definition list which is able to handle three background images, one in the <dl>, one in the <dt> and one in the <dd>

The last corner is a bit of a cheat really as it uses the last <p> in the <dd> text to place the background image for the fourth corner.

Again this demonstration uses gif images of the correct color to blend in with the background colors, but you could change these to transparent gifs so that the box colors can easily be changed or even transparent pngs so that a better blend can be made (using javascript to make the png transparency work in IE5.x and IE6).

Although not recommended for general layout, this box can be useful for creating information areas on web pages.

Copyright

You may use this method on your personal 'non-profit' web site without seeking my permission. A link back to CSSplay is always appreciated.

Commercial usage is also permitted without seeking approval, but I would ask that a donation is considered to support my work on CSSPlay.

If you are having problems integrating any of my demonstrations into your website then I now offer a service to fault find and correct any errors that you may have introduced. Please email me for more information.

Testimonial

"The citroen.co.uk web site uses
CSS play code for the site drop down menus.
This code works seamlessly in IE 6 & 7, and is an excellent solution to the Creative requirements of the site."
