Please note. I get a few hundred emails a week from visitors asking for help, or posing questions on how to modify my demos to suit their application and I read them all. Unfortunately I only have a limited amount of time to spend answering these questions.

Todd, glad you like the new menu. This one was stumbled upon whilst trying something else but I am quite pleased with the results.

Hello. could you tell me what means : "Please note that you will also need a standards compliant !doctype for this menu to work correctly." (my menus do'nt work... I do'nt understand the procedure for installing the 2 css).
But thank you, your site is very amazing!

Stu:-
alban, visit www.w3.org/QA/2002/04/valid-dtd-list.html

and select the doctype that you require.
The method of linking the css is clearly shown in my page source code.

Stu
This is an excelent menu type.
Being a bit slow on the uptake can you explain where the class="hide" is located?
Its not in either of the CSS flies linked to the page, and I cant find it in your main cssplay.css file either.

Stu:-
David, the .hide style is in the dropline_ie.css file.
.menu ul li a.hide, .menu ul li a:visited.hide {display:none;}
Not that if you use my later method of conditional comments then this is not required.

Love this menu. I was just wondering if it can be modified in the following ways:

1. have rounded corners for the top level navigation

2. have the submenu display always but only for the page that the user is currently on, i.e disable the hover.

Awesome.

Thanks.

Gary Klingemann:-
Hi Stu, can this horizontal menu be adapted for a vertical flyout instead where the submenu also matches from top to bottom the same height as the main menu?
(13.10.2006, 20:45)

Stu:-
Gary, if you mean that the this would be an up-line menu instead of a drop-line menu then yes it is possible by just changing the top positions of the sublevels.

Mike:-
Hi Stu - This menu may work better for what I need it to do. What would I have to change to make the submenu persist (stay active/visible even on mouseout) unless a different menu item was clicked?

thanks,

Mike

Bob:-
Not sure why, but the third row doesn't show up in IE7.

Stu:-
Bob, should be ok now.

I started with "A cross-browser drop-line cascading validating menu". Wanting only a single sub-level off of only one of the menu items, I cut out all the extra levels etc. I also want only text to show/change - no background. So I monkeyed around until the main and sub-items could appear separated vertically from each other but still be clickable. My problem is that there is mega flashing. It appears to be because the backgrounds on both the main item and the sub-item are not defined so as to be transparent AND because of the vertical space between them.

How can I keep the sub-items displayed so as to move the mouse onto the them, even when leaving the main item?

Hi, is there an easy way of adding yet another level of drop menu?
(15.03.2009, 02:29)

BHM:-
Very nice Stu!
Only one issue that is troubling:
1. Disappearing 2nd level links when a user delay's for a moment on hover.
Is there a brilliant fix?
THANK YOU very much for your superbly wonderful, magical efforts!!!
