Doing it with style

zero dollars COMMENTS

Welcome to my Comments Pages

Please note. I get a few hundred emails a week from visitors asking for help, or posing questions on how to modify my demos to suit their application and I read them all. Unfortunately I only have a limited amount of time to spend answering these questions.

So if I do not reply, please do not be offended, and if I do reply then you are one of the lucky ones.

If you are asking for permission to use any of my demonstration then please email me with your request stu{at}

Stu, I made some ad(vertisement) for your zero dollars page

Goes like this:

Stu Nicholls is offering free advertsing space ... for zero dollar you get 1825 pixels (75px by 25px), your site needs to be related to the world of CSS.

and grab yours.

Okay, got it.

Tim Callahan:-

@Stu:I do have a small portfolio site coming up: with some complete sites made with CSS? Will that do?
I could add some css tips as an extra section?

Stu, Thank you for this bit of free promotion! As always, you continue to inspire!!
(06.11.2005, 14:57)

Jo-an, as long as it uses css and validates that should be ok.
(06.11.2005, 15:14)

Hi Stu,
Just checked this page again today in Firefox 1.5 and none of the images show up.
(09.12.2005, 02:43)

Hi Stu, I thank you for coming up with such good design and letting it be used for free. However, I need a little help with the zero-ads css; I'm trying to put it at the header section of my blog but it just does not come out right.
(11.12.2005, 17:20)

Zarah, it is difficult to say what is wrong without seeing the page.
(11.12.2005, 18:27)

Thank you for the reply, Stu. My blog:
Thank you.
(12.12.2005, 05:12)

Zarah, you are missing the clearing div after the </ul> tag.
<div class="clear"></div> and the css to go with it.
(12.12.2005, 10:10)

Thank you, it is much better now.
(13.12.2005, 06:57)

Hey Stu,
I love your website. I log in at least once a week to see if there is anything new and exciting. I've used some of your techniques.
If you could include me in this it would be cool. my website -

Tomas, you will need to email me with the required information such as the image you want to use and alt/title text.
(16.12.2005, 17:39)

Marc McColl:-
Fantastic well done

Can't see any of the images. On both IE7 Beta2 and Firefox 1.5 I get a grey background. On mouseover: IE7 white fill; FF1.5 white border.
(08.02.2006, 21:00)

Andrei, FF v1.5 works ok for me as does Opera v8.51. Cannot test IE7 but IE6 works fine.
(08.02.2006, 21:09)

thank you very much for such clean, fun and good css.
(20.03.2006, 03:37)

I love this idea! Question though: How would you cope with differently sized pictures, like on the million dollar page?
(07.04.2006, 22:51)

Stu, I think this one like 'crashed' in FF (ver The pioctures just disapear! But it used to work...
(30.04.2006, 21:25)

Roy, I think it must be your set up as it works fine on my FF v1.0.5.2
(30.04.2006, 21:36)

Users that have Adblock (for Firefox) installed and use Filterset G (from, which I believe is the most popular filter set) can't see the images, I suspect because they're in a folder called "ads". Just thought I'd let you know, since these aren't technically ads, but more like friendly links.
(01.05.2006, 00:39)

Yeah, I use Adblock. So that will probably be the problem. I will whitelist the page and load it again to see if there are any problems.
(04.05.2006, 12:09)

I am using the Zero Dollar code in my header by showing it through an iframe: Looks pretty impressive I think. Nice work.
(07.08.2006, 12:22)

I can't get this to work. It's frustrating. I'm copying pasting as is, and just substituting the links one for one, and its just not showing up at all. I'm using Firefox, and I'm using IE, and neither are working. Also, if I want this to only be 8x4, rather then the current size, and a tad bigger pictures, how can I edit that? Thanks in advance
