Information

My previous examples of calendars were fairly basic and the 'Simple List Calendar', as several visitors pointed out, did not allow links to be added to the dates.

With these shortcomings in mind I have produced this calendar which I believe fixes all these problems and also solves the problem of having to have two sets of code/css and not being valid xhtml1.1.

To see this in action hover your mouse over each month and the calendar will change to suit. Move your mouse horizontally to hover over the month and you can now select any links that are shown.

Any date can have a link attached and the addition of comments if required. I have added just two link dates, January 1st and March 4th, to show that this is possible.

This works in IE6, Opera and Firefox on Windows XP. I have not tested on a Mac so would appreciate any feedback.

But the amazing part is that this uses the same calendar code for all browsers, no separate code for IE this time AND IT VALIDATES.

IE uses links in tables nested in links in an unordered list, and other browsers use links in tables nested in an unordered list.

The Internet Explorer css and xhtml is placed within IE conditional comments and as such is invisible to the validator and other browsers. In this way browsers other than IE get the correct validating markup, but IE gets it's own version which allows links nested in links when the nested links are placed within a table.
