Shadow Boxing for all except Opera

12th February 2010

Works in IE5.5, IE6, IE7, IE8, Firefox, Safari and Google Chrome.

5th April 2010

Now working in Opera v10.51

Shadow Boxing I

This box will stretch to fit the content and the box shadow will fit the resulting
size of the box.

This will give a shadow to the box in IE5.5, IE6, IE7, IE8, Firefox, Safari and Chrome.
Opera is yet to produce a version that will recognise drop shadows.

Information

Now that CSS3 shadows are supported in Firefox, Safari and Chrome, I thought that I should revisit this to see what could be done for Internet Explorer using one of their proprietory 'filters', and this is the result.

The Internet Explorer shadows look almost identical to those in Firefox etc. and all done with just one extra div.

None of the boxes above have any width or height setting and the shadow resizes to fit.
