Finally after many years of searching and trial and error, a click gallery where the clicked image stays on screen even when clicking elswhere on the page.

You can even leave the page and come back to the same image.

This gallery does not use :target, iframes, objects or javascript, just simple html and css. So there is no problem with the browser back button or having external pages for the large images.

So click any thumbnail image to see the large image above, with fade in/out for browsers that support transitions.

A more featured gallery now available, see next demonstration.
