Information

Back to the simple stuff.

This is a simple method of adding interest to a map of the British Isles & Ireland.

Hover the mouse over the black squares to see a pop-up information box about the particular place of interest. The pop-up box is styled to look as though an arrow is pointing from the place of interest to the photograph and descriptive text.

This works in IE5.5, IE6, IE7, Firefox, Opera etc.

Hacks have been added to make it work in IE5.5 for people browsing using the standalone version. Strictly speaking IE5.5 should have it's own CSS loaded using a conditional comment.

Cascading Style Sheet

If you look at the header of this page you will see that the css for this demonstration is embeded in the page.

THE xhtml

The xhtml code for the 'mapping the British Isles & Ireland' can be seen in the #info div of the page markup, so just view the source code for this information.

Please note that you will also need a standards compliant !doctype for this demonstration to work correctly.

Copyright

You may use this method on your personal 'non-profit' web site without seeking my permission. A link back to CSSplay is always appreciated.

Commercial usage is also permitted without seeking approval, but I would ask that a donation is considered to support my work on CSSPlay.

If you are having problems integrating any of my demonstrations into your website then I now offer a service to fault find and correct any errors that you may have introduced. Please email me for more information.
