Doing it with style

CSS MENUSThe original CSS only drop-down menu

Date : Pre 2004

For all modern browsers

The menu that started it all - See the 'Information' section below.

Please note that this menu has now been superseded by the NEW MKII version.
I have left this old version and the update information here for posterity.

A cross browser drop-down menu using JUST CSS.

The IE version should work in IE5.01, IE5.5 and IE6, and it does so by using links nested in links. Now this would normally cause IE not to recognise the nested links, but by putting these into a table IE is confused enough to recognise both the outer link and the nested links.

So here it is, the long awaited pure CSS drop-down menu that works in all browsers including NN7.1. Well just for a bit of fun.

Click here to be amazed ;)

14th January 2006

Now revised to show an actual working page with menu.

8th February 2006

Revised once more to show how to style a single level cascade on the DEMOS menu and to change the Firefox menu to unordered lists.

7th March 2006

This menu has now been superseded by the NEW MKII version which now validates and only uses ONE menu for all browsers.
