It has been a long time coming, but thanks to a chance email from Tristan Brotherton there is now an answer to centering float left variable widths dropdown menus.
This is the same html as the previous skeleton menus but with a couple of external divs and the additional styling to place the menu centrally within these extra divs.
Tested in IE6, IE7, Firefox, Safari(PC), Opera and Google Chrome.
